We are delighted to continue our growing partnership with Oppidan Education after the half term break. Oppidan is a renowned mentoring organisation that specialises in building confidence, character, and communication in young people—skills that are increasingly essential both inside and outside the classroom. At Arnold House, our collaboration with Oppidan focuses on supporting boys in Years 5 and 6 through a tailored programme of one-to-one mentoring sessions and dynamic group workshops.
These sessions are designed to foster essential qualities such as oracy, self-awareness and resilience. The boys are encouraged to reflect on their personal strengths, embrace areas for growth and express themselves with clarity and confidence. Whether they are learning how to pivot in conversation or preparing for high-stakes interviews, these experiences help lay the foundation for articulate, thoughtful young men.
What sets Oppidan apart is their holistic, character-driven approach. Unlike more traditional tutoring companies, Oppidan focuses not only on academic performance but also on emotional intelligence and personal development. Their team comprises experienced mentors from a wide variety of backgrounds, offering boys a breadth of perspectives and experiences. Currently partnered with over 100 schools and having supported thousands of families, Oppidan brings a wealth of expertise to every interaction.
We are particularly proud to be part of the Oppidan Prep Journey, a two-year personal development programme aligned with the senior school admissions process. Beginning in Year 5, each boy is matched with a different mentor each term for a 30-minute individual session, offering them the chance to explore new ideas, practice self-expression, and build rapport. This journey continues into Year 6, culminating in a graduation day where boys reflect on their progress and look ahead with confidence and purpose. Along the way, parents receive detailed reports, and staff use mentor feedback to tailor ongoing support for each pupil.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome the Oppidan team back in June for a special Year 5 Team Day at Canons Park. This lively event will feature team-building activities, public speaking challenges, and a collaborative business pitch. It promises to be a fun and enriching experience that will stretch the boys’ creativity, leadership, and communication skills in a positive, supportive environment.
We look forward to seeing our boys continue to thrive through this unique and impactful programme.
