Admissions
Admissions Policy
The main point of entry to Arnold House is at age 5+ entering Year 1. The 36 boys joining the School are placed in one of two parallel classes. In exceptional circumstances the number of new boys can exceed 36. The School is over-subscribed and parents must register their son between his first and second birthday.
Sequence of Events
- All registered parents are invited to visit the School on one of three Open Evenings held in April/May, roughly two and a half years prior to the September entry date e.g. April/May 2009 for entry in September 2011.
- Parents wishing to proceed with their application following an Open Evening visit have the opportunity of meeting the Headmaster for a half-hour interview to discuss their educational aspirations and to find out more about Arnold House.
- Each boy is then invited to the School for a brief and informal one-to-one assessment lasting between 10 and 15 minutes. The School will request a confidential reference from a boy’s nursery school prior to the assessment day.
- Information collated from the interview, a boy’s assessment and confidential Nursery School reports provide the basis on which an offer is made. Offers are made approximately eighteen months before the proposed September entry date.
- Whilst places are not guaranteed, younger siblings, whose parents remain fully committed to the ethos and values of the School are looked upon favourably, as are the sons of Arnold House old boys.
Registration Fee
A non-returnable registration fee of £100.00 is payable to Arnold House School upon registration when a photocopy of the registration form will be sent as a receipt and as confirmation that a boy is registered. Registration does not constitute an offer of a place, but registrations will be considered subject to availability and the admission requirements of the School at the time when places are offered.
Chance Vacancies
Occasionally chance vacancies occur further up the School. In the first instance, a boy will be invited to spend a full day at Arnold House in order for us to judge whether he will fit comfortably, both academically and socially, into his new surroundings. A confidential reference is also requested at this stage from his current school. A positive assessment day is followed with a parental interview with the Headmaster.
If you are interested in applying to Arnold House School you should telephone the Registrar, Penny Williams on +44 (0)20 7266 6982 who will send you an application form and further details.
