Year 7 Fieldwork Trip to Dorset.

Geography Fieldtrip

Year 7 will travelling to Dorset in May 2008 in order to carry out fieldwork. The trip provides the boys an opportunity to collect data for their Common Entrance fieldwork project, which counts for 20% of the examination mark. Also they will learn about the natural processes and spectacular coastal landforms that Dorset possesses. They then spend about half a term writing up their assignment and put the finishing touches to it during the summer holidays. Detailed information about the trip will follow in January.

Global Location League 2006/2007

Global Location League

As part of the Geography Common entrance syllabus the boys have to learn the exact location of about 300 countries, cities, mountains, seas and oceans as well as other physical features. This accounts for at least 15% of the overall mark but can be arduous for the boys to learn. The Global Location League is a break-time activity, which combines Geography with the basic principles of football to encourage the boys to learn in an enjoyable manner.

Twenty-four boys played in two leagues, with the top four in each qualifying for the quarter - finals. The top six boys in the tables as they stand are shown below.
