Overview
The PE curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and it offers boys the opportunity to learn the key skills and rules associated with a wide range of sports. Below is a breakdown of the syllabus. PE lessons take place in our dedicated and well–equipped school gymnasium and outside in the school grounds. Physical Education is taught by experienced and specialist staff throughout the School. Every pupil receives two thirty–five minute periods of PE each week.
Games takes place at the School's own sports ground at Canons Park. This fantastic facility is located near Edgware, twenty– five minutes away on the Jubilee Underground Line. The Canons Park Activity Centre boasts space for five full sized soccer pitches, an all weather Astroturf surface accommodating four tennis courts, cricket nets, a multi–purpose indoor hall and extensive changing facilities.

Games at Arnold House
At Arnold House we try to offer our pupils a wide variety of sports. In the Autumn Term the main sports are Football and Hockey. Such is the breadth of the football fixture list almost every boy has the chance to represent his school in a competitive match over the course of the term. In the Spring Term we focus on hockey and rugby. The main summer term sports are cricket and athletics. In addition, the school also fields teams in tennis, basketball, cross–country, table tennis, gymnastics and judo. We also have an inter–house sports competition played every term. Although individuals are encouraged to be competitive, it is also stressed that good conduct and sportsmanship are equally valued.
Pupils in Years 1 - 4 have one Games afternoon per week. For pupils in Years 1 and 2 this takes place at school. For boys in Year 3 and 4 this takes place at Canons Park each Tuesday afternoon. Boys in Years 5 to 8 have two Games sessions per week on Wednesday and Friday afternoons and these both take place at Canons Park.
The school is lucky to have a wealth of academic teachers with extensive sports playing and coaching experience. These members of staff are a crucial part of our vibrant School Games Programme. The school also employs several specialist sports coaches in football, rugby and cricket.
The school has a comprehensive fixture list. Each term we play matches at various age groups against neighbouring schools. These include. Lyndhurst, The Hall, Westminster Under School, St Anthony's, Hereward House, UCS and Durston House. Details of directions to these schools can be accessed by connecting to www.streetmap.co.uk
In addition to our weekly fixtures, members of the Under 13 rugby and cricket teams participate in an annual tour.
