Year 3 homework should be completed independently wherever possible, although it is useful to have an adult in the background. Teachers should be informed if a task was found to be particularly difficult. A small art prep will be set every other week and the boys receive a weekly French homework. As maturity and self-motivation develops in Year 3, the boys are ready to receive a number of short homework tasks, encouraging good study habits. In Year 4 homework is gradually built up in preparation for the heavier workload to be expected in Years 5 and 6.
In Years 5 and 6, boys are expected to spend up to an hour on two subjects each night. If parents wish to help they can, but these years should see increasing independence on the part of the boys’ learning. In Years 7 and 8, boys might be spending up to 40 minutes on each subject.
